The project aims to develop an automatic device for monitoring interactions between bottlenose dolphins and gillnets in the Pelagos Sanctuary, through passive acoustic techniques.

The project involved, in the first phase, the collection of acoustic data during interactions between bottlenose dolphins and gillnets in the intervention areas (Liguria and Strait of Bonifacio). The data collected were used to "train" the automatic recognition system, developed and tested in the second phase of the project.

The TursioNet project has been recognized under the EU Missions – Restore Our Ocean and Waters.
