As part of the activities connected to the ECOCREST© brand, the brand's philosophy includes the possibility of promoting social activities to support local communities.
Already in the project that won the first edition of the Premio Impresa Ambiente (2006), much attention was given to local communities in Vietnam, both with actions of direct involvement of fishing communities in the Ninh Van area (Ha Ninh Phu peninsula), and with the exchange of scientific know-how with the Institute of Oceanography of Nha Trang.
Subsequently, as part of the certification process for pearl oyster production in NW Australia, there were agreements for the direct involvement of local Aboriginal communities in Broome and One Harm Point, through the companies Blue Sears Pearling and Clipper Pearls.
Much more advanced and detailed were the actions to support several local communities of pearl oyster fishermen and farmers in Indonesia ( https://www.ecocrest.org/trasparenza/ ), conducted in close connection with the certifications of the companies PT Dafin Mutiara (Nusantara Group) (localities of Tual, Amboina, Fretes, DN Nam, DM Ow, Yudas Tadeus Langgur, Ohoiluk, Ohoitel, Dullah, Ambon, Dobo, Nam Talim, Surabaya, Taslim, Malteng, Maluku, Aru Island, Missol, Morotai, with support for various initiatives, educational activities of various levels, medical and vaccination assistance, 40 scholarships and the creation of small local community markets) and PT Autore Pearl Colture (localities of Kantor, Mataram, Kiantar, LB: Pandan, Lombok, Maci, Malaka, P. Batu, Sekotong, Sumbawa, T. Ringgit and TJ. Sekeben, with support for small community construction, food and medical support for the poor, support for the disabled, additional interventions for communities that have suffered natural disasters and other interventions). The two companies also conducted beach-cleaning educational activities, to raise awareness among local communities about the conservation of the coastal environment.
