The project in Indonesia was promoted by the Fondazione Acquario di Genova Onlus as part of the ECOCREST© certification of companies that have been farming pearl oysters (pearls and mother-of-pearl) since 2023. In particular, replanting and propagation activities of corals of different species have been undertaken in the locations of Tual and Morotai (directly conducted by PT Dafin Mutiara – Nusantara Group) and East Jawa, Mataram and in the southern part of the island of Lombok (PT Autore Pearl Culture – Autore Pearls and Autore Group). All coral replanting activities in Indonesia fully involve the communities of the various villages involved.
The coral project – Indonesia is also being supported by mangrove replanting activities, especially in East Jawa, Mataram and the southern part of the island of Lombok.

The project in Vietnam was promoted by the Fondazione Acquario di Genova Onlus, first as part of the project that won the first edition of the Premio Impresa Ambiente in 2006 and, subsequently, as part of the ECOCREST© certification of companies that worked mother-of-pearl (until 2009). The project involved the restocking of some herbivorous gastropod molluscs ( Tectus spp.), whose original populations had been impacted by indiscriminate harvesting activities, which had had negative effects on the coral reefs in the Nah Trang area. The project also involved the ex situ reproduction of some species, conducted in collaboration with the Nah Trang Institute of Oceanography.
